Staff Nurse Respiratory Ward 2B
NHS AfC: Band 5
The Respiratory Team within Whiston Hospital is looking for Band 5 registered nurses to deliver high-quality care for respiratory patients.
Our units are both acute and fast-paced environments. No two days are the same, and staff are continuously facing new challenges and experiences that help them grow and develop within their role.
The Respiratory Service consists of 3 Respiratory wards: 2B, 2C, and 2D. We care for patients with a variety of conditions, including lung cancer, asthma, COPD, TB, type 1 and type 2 respiratory failure, pleural effusions, pneumothorax, tracheostomies, and PE’s. Within 2C, you will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in NIV (non-invasive ventilation).
Nurses with previous experience within respiratory will have the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and skills, gaining experience in aspects of respiratory care that may not have been available to them in their previous roles.
Main duties of the job
* To be responsible in association with the team leader for the formulation and implementation of individual patient care plans.
* To participate in the holistic assessment of patients and to formulate and review individual patient care plans.
* To commence and participate in research/special projects as directed by the ward manager.
* To contribute to the setting, maintaining, and monitoring of standards of care within the ward.
* Help to ensure that all equipment is in safe working order.
* Internal rotation onto night duty and twilight shifts are required.
* To assist in the promotion of effective communication with all ward staff and other departments as required.
* Promote the safeguarding of vulnerable patients in line with national and local policy.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Current NMC Registration
* IV Drug Administration Certificate or Competencies
* Teaching and assessing qualification/training or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
* At least six months post-registration experience
* At least six months post-registration experience within an acute hospital setting
