As the successful candidate, you will be reporting to the Director and will assist with managing the Mechanical engineers within the Project Team, with technical support from the Business Director. You will be working on a variety of projects including commercial, education, sport and leisure, hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, mixed use, and residential.
Job Summary
As the successful Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for acting as a Project Lead on a selection of projects, including responsibility for financial control, resourcing management, internal project coordination, administration, and client liaison. You will also be:
* Responsible for acting as a Leader of the Mechanical section of the project team, including responsibility for the design, design quality, performance, work processes, and resourcing management of the Project Team.
* Responsible for managing a selection of client accounts and carrying out business development activities for the business.
* Responsible for assisting the project Director in advising on the resourcing and performance of the group, setting mid-term goals, organizing weekly team meetings, and seeking ways of improving the efficiency and productivity of the team.
* Promoting the business' can-do attitude ensuring this is instilled in every project and imparted by all within the MEP design team.
Duties
* You will be working on multiple projects and organize your own workload, meeting all assigned deadlines agreed with the Project Lead.
* Responsible for full detailed mechanical design and should expect to complete these exercises on your own with support from the Project Lead.
* Responsible for calculation works to prove design for domestic, ventilation, heating, and cooling systems.
* Coordinate design with mechanical design members.
* Feed into design team meetings with some attendance where required, alongside Project Lead and report back to the wider design team on progress and actions.
* Manage personal design workloads providing completed works to the Project Lead for QA in a timely manner. Dates should be agreed with the project lead and aligned with client target dates to ensure timely issue of information.
* Constantly seek ways of improving the efficiency of your work and of your team.
* Assist sustainability engineers with modeling input data and criteria, including the review of completed reports issued by the department for correctness.
* Show great involvement in teamwork and promote consultation and collaboration with your team fellows.
* Contribute to the development of junior team members.
* Ensure all QA procedures and guidelines are followed.
Technical Ability
As the successful Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be fully conversant with current building regulations, CIBSE documentation, British standards, BISREA documentation, and all other general design guides associated with the building services industry.
It is essential that you are IT literate, with a working knowledge of office, AutoCAD, and Hevacomp.
Ideally, you will be registered as a minimum as a Member of CIBSE or be working towards accreditation, with a minimum of 6-7 years experience in the Building Services industry.
