We’re proud that our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hubs have been nationally recognised for their best practice. The 6 hubs in our area bring together services including housing, police, education, and social services for vulnerable children and adults. In fact, we were one of the first forces in the country to have a MASH in each of our local authority areas.
As a MASH Investigation Support Officer, you will be working as part of a Multi-Agency Safeguarding Team (MASH) conducting research, producing reports, and representing the Force at Multi Agency Safeguarding meetings sharing information. You will be responsible for the evaluation and disclosure around Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) and Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme (CSODS) applications and the quality assurance of domestic abuse referrals.
What you’ll do
1. Research, collate and evaluate information from Police systems and databases in order to produce reports to support effective decision making within MASH. Input and update records as appropriate from information shared at various meetings in a timely manner.
2. Undertake an analysis of collated information to evaluate and set the level of risk posed. Document decision-making rationale and escalate in a timely manner where appropriate.
3. Responsible for maintaining an effective quality assurance process to ensure the daily sharing of information with partner agencies complies with relevant legislation and MOPI guidelines.
4. Proactively respond to requests for information from both internal and external police sources, MASH partners, and other third-party agencies to support the protocols and procedures of the MASH process. Ensure any disclosure of data and information is appropriate, compliant with Force policy, current and relevant legislation.
5. Review and undertake analysis of evidence, evaluating all available information in order to prepare comprehensive reports for Multi Agency Safeguarding Meetings.
What you’ll bring
1. Recent experience of working within a safeguarding environment is desirable to support integration into the role and department.
2. The ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the issues affecting the most vulnerable in our communities.
3. Must be accredited to PIP Level 1 or prepared to work towards PIP Level 1 accreditation.
4. You will undertake the designated functions with associated powers conferred by the Chief Constable under the Police Reform Act 2002 (as amended by the Policing and Crime Act 2017).
5. Each successful applicant will be based within one of the MASH teams; however, applicants should have the ability to travel around the force area.
