Job Description
We have partnered with a high growth, private equity backed power business that is several hundred million turnover and is looking for a strong Power Risk Specialist. The business has grown substantially and has a trading floor, multiple divisions.
We are looking for candidates with previous experience in a similar or supportive role in intraday power trading and PPAs. As a Power Risk Specialist, you will focus on intraday power and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) risk management. Your expertise will contribute to the development and implementation of robust risk models and stress testing scenarios, while providing valuable insights on risk appetite and margin optimization strategies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our risk management practices align with our business objectives.
Salary: £100,000-130,000 + bonus.
Location: London, 3 days in the office and indeed 2 days at home.
Key Responsibilities:
* Enhance Risk Management Framework: Implement and improve the Group’s Risk Management Framework.
* Risk Analysis: Identify, quantify, and monitor risks across various sustainability, environmental, and energy products.
* Reporting Excellence: Maintain and enhance the Risk Reporting Framework, ensuring clarity and accessibility of data.
* Model Development: Build bespoke models, simulations, analyses, and reports to support risk management efforts.
* Risk Limits Management: Assign and monitor risk limits effectively.
* Portfolio Contribution: Assist in Group portfolio management and perform pre-trade analyses.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships with service providers and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the organization.
* Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct analysis and reporting as needed to support commercial decision-making.
* Cultural Development: Foster a culture of risk management through knowledge sharing and effective communication.
* Compliance and Governance: Ensure adherence to Group and company policies.
* Proactive Change Management: Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, people, or technology.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
* Industry Knowledge: Understanding of derivatives and operations, particularly within commodities; familiarity with energy markets and trading strategies is a plus.
* Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in risk modeling and data management, with experience in Python for building models and reports, interacting with APIs, and creating dashboards.
* Analytical Skills: Quantitative analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
* Initiative and Adaptability: Demonstrate initiative in proposing solutions and confidently challenge the status quo, while adapting to a fast-paced environment.
