MSAT Packaging Technologist

This is a site-based role at Barnard Castle
Responsible for the completion of site packaging activity, including supporting the introduction of new packs, supporting change control activities and dealing with arising issues at site, escalating where appropriate. The site Packaging Technologist serves as the interface between Artwork Packaging Services (APS) and the sites teams (production, logistics, quality, technical).
In this role you will:
* Provide first-line technical support for root cause analysis and rapid resolution of packaging operation issues, and support site PIRCs, Quality notifications, CAPAs, and internal audit findings.
* Contribute to Artwork Packaging Services projects, including the design and development of various packaging types, input on component drawings and specifications, and completion of site activities for line trials and qualifications.
* Lead and deliver packaging performance improvement projects to enhance efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve product value post-launch by using specific packaging knowledge and expertise.
* Plan and manage site packaging activities, including coordinating and managing line trials to qualify packaging platforms/systems in accordance with GSK and external standards.
* Provide technical support for new pack setups, pack change activities, New Product Introduction, Technical Transfer, and site improvement activities, ensuring all packaging and equipment are validated to the latest standards.
* Ensure all packaging materials have up-to-date specifications in site systems, load technical data into local or GMS systems, drive 100% packaging compliance with quality and regulatory standards, and support internal and external audits.

Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
* HNC + industry experience/ Degree level in an Engineering, Science or equivalent discipline.
* Proficient in use of technology to communicate and provide reports and analysis of data.
* Significant experience in a technical discipline covering range of Packaging formats applicable to Pharmaceutical/Medical Devices/Healthcare/FMCG
* Good understanding of H,S & E policies & requirements.
* Competent knowledge of existing supply base and of the industry in general as a source of new suppliers or specialist skills.
* Competent understanding of Validation techniques and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
* Clear understanding of packaging development process and of global packaging processes
* Strong understanding of packaging, materials, forming and finishing processes, suppliers, packing lines, specifications and packaging documentation (inc. BOMs), and statistical process control/qualification.
* Specialist knowledge of packaging system compliance and demonstrated ability to assess impact of packaging changes from a regulatory and product stability perspective.
* Basic understanding of the pharmaceutical development activities and processes adopted by R & D relating to product development, NPS and Technology Transfer.
* Good appreciation of pharmaceutical GMP, pre-approval inspection readiness and Company regulatory requirements.
* Good understanding to enable management of procedures and GSK Specification & Drawing systems.
