This family-owned retail jeweller enterprise has been trading since 1938 and has accomplished an exceptional reputation for friendly, attentive, and professional service. Perhaps surprisingly for such a market town location, their expertise covers a vast range of merchandise & jewellery trade services, and it is their resolve to continually build and improve across all areas in the years to come.
One arena that has always been a commercial strength is their own in-house workshop where they offer their clientele from far & wide first-class jewellery repairs alongside a prestige bespoke jewellery design and commission service. An opportunity now exists to join their business to further add personnel strength, craftsmanship depth & breadth to ensure that the influx of repairs and commissions are undertaken in a timely manner as is their corporately desired standard.
Job Role:
Working alongside a family member - their Head Goldsmith, this opportunity is felt to offer a fantastic platform from where your bench talents can potentially shine & gain recognition.
The variety of bench challenges can't be underestimated. Alongside everyday constant jewellery repairs & restoration, there is the opportunity to design, create, and see through to completion one-off commissions that are regularly undertaken.
Increasingly, the business is seeing ever greater client briefings in full re-design & jewellery restoration, and as they possess in-house a CAD design facility, these client consultations are again ever more frequent.
Requests for diamond and precious gemstone jewellery continue to be strong, and for those bench jewellers / goldsmiths, the gamut of further manufacturing challenges really then opens up. It would be expected that such bespoke commissions could be, over time, briefed to yourself and likewise be handcrafted fully by you in-house.
Requirements:
It is felt the applicant should have professional Jewellery Manufacturing training and ideally have already proved themselves across several everyday bench disciplines. These include resizing, re-tipping, polishing, rhodium plating, stone replacement, and pearl re-threading. Although not an exhaustive list, if there are areas that our client can support / finish off your skill learning to be best of class, they would happily undertake this personal training mission for the collective good.
It is absolutely an exciting moment to be expanding their workshop team, and applicants with well-matched bench skills who share the same pride in delivering perfect pieces time & time again would be very much welcomed.
To apply, please first send your outline CV, perhaps together with a short portfolio of designs / pieces you have previously made - the more early insight received, the better.
