Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Planner to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and delivering a range of planning projects, providing expert advice to clients, and contributing to the growth and success of the consultancy. This role requires a strong understanding of the planning system, excellent project management skills, and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Management: Lead and manage planning projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard with the support of senior colleagues.
* Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert advice and maintaining strong relationships.
* Planning Applications: Prepare and submit planning applications, including coordinating supporting documentation and liaising with local authorities.
* Consultation and Engagement: Conduct public consultations and stakeholder engagement activities, representing the consultancy at meetings and hearings.
* Policy and Research: Stay up-to-date with planning policies, legislation, and best practices, and conduct research to support project delivery.
* Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior planners and other team members, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
* Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contribute to proposals and bids, and help grow the consultancy’s client base.
Qualifications and Experience
* Education: A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification is desirable.
* Professional Membership: Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility for membership.
* Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant planning experience, with a proven track record in managing mixed commercial and residential projects.
* Skills:
o Strong project management and organizational skills.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to analyze and interpret complex planning documents and data.
o Proficiency in planning software and Microsoft Office Suite.
o Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
