Job summary Applications are invited for a 1 year, 10 PA Specialty Doctor post in Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will join a team of consultants/speciality doctors caring for a wide variety of malignant and non-malignant diseases within the largest paediatric BMT/CAR-T cell therapy unit in the UK which performs over 100 cell procedures per annum. The post involves senior medical supervision of both the inpatient and day-case BMT/CAR-T cell therapy work. When not on in-patient service the appointee will be expected to conduct high quality clinical/scientific BMT/CAR-T cell therapy research/teaching. The Trust has 318 beds and provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialties for tertiary level care. The patient population consists of over 20,000 inpatients per annum and 84,000 outpatients. Main duties of the job This is a one-year fixed term contract and is designed for a trained paediatrician with experience in paediatric BMT and CAR-T cell therapy.The post provides senior medical supervision of both the inpatient and day-case BMT/CART. When not on in-patient service the appointee will be expected to conduct high quality clinical/scientific BMT/CART research/teaching. Daytime responsibility for BMT/CART in-patients This is the principal duty associated with this appointment. There are currently two consultant-led ward rounds each week. This post holder will lead a weekly ward round, and attend the multi-disciplinary discussions held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Additionally, the post holder will be available throughout the day for queries regarding inpatients from SHOs and SpR's. The post holder will also rotate to the international private patient (IPP) BMT/CART/Immunology ward with daytime responsibility for BMT/CART and immunology in-patients.
