LGC’s National Laboratories (NL) group to be based at The Surrey Research Park, Guildford (from April 2025) delivers a range of functions and services in partnership with the UK Government, business and academia. The business unit has revenues in the region of £19m and employs ~150 people. The goods-in and stores team are fundamental to the efficient running of these laboratory functions.
Job Description
Are you looking for a hands-on role where your organizational skills and attention to detail make a real difference? We are seeking a dedicated Stores and Logistics Operative to support the smooth operation of our stores and goods-in functions. This role is key to ensuring deliveries, stock management, and internal distributions are handled efficiently and safely.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll work as part of a team to:
* Receive, verify, and organize deliveries of goods and chemicals.
* Maintain clean, organized, and safe stores areas.
* Transport goods and chemicals across the site for storage and collection.
* Deliver essential items like personal protective equipment, gas cylinders, and mail to the right locations.
* Assist with outgoing shipments, ensuring orders are accurate and dispatched on time.
Your contributions will directly support our laboratory teams and ensure the seamless flow of materials across the site.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a team environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards. The ideal candidate will have:
* GCSEs or equivalent
qualifications
.
* Experience in stores, loading, or a similar role (preferred).
* Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.
* Good organizational and time-management abilities.
* Basic computer skills, including MS Office 365.
* A forklift truck license or experience with laboratory gases and dangerous goods handling is a bonus, but not essential - training will be provided.
