We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to work in our After School Club (ASC). The ASC provides wraparound care for our younger children from Nursery school age to Primary 6.
Work 8 hours per week during term time, Monday to Thursday (3:00pm to 5:00pm), with possible additional hours.
Confirmation of PVG membership is required.
Main Responsibilities:
* Provide high quality care and support to children as part of an ASC team.
* Be responsible for the children’s care and safety from collection to handover to parents.
* Maintain a safe and secure environment indoors and outdoors.
* Set up interesting activities for children and engage with them.
* Listen, talk, and play with individual children, respecting their rights and needs.
* Take part in role-play, puzzles, and activities that encourage play with toys.
* Keep things safe and tidy for children.
* Help with a light snack and clear up afterwards.
This is not an exhaustive list, and other duties may be required for the smooth running of the ASC.
Ideal Candidate:
* Ability to register with Scottish Social Services Council at either support worker or practitioner level in day care of children services - Essential.
* Experience of work/play with children of primary age – Essential.
* Genuine enjoyment of the company of young children – Essential.
* Happy to work as part of a team to meet the needs of children and the ASC – Essential.
* Able to respond to changes of plan and take a flexible approach to activities - Essential.
* Interest in the play and emotional needs of children aged between 5 and 11 years of age - Essential.
* Awareness of what constitutes 'good quality childcare' - Essential.
* Ability to provide warm and consistent care to all children attending the school - Essential.
* Understanding of health and safety issues affecting childcare services - Essential.
* Commitment to working within an equal opportunities framework – Essential.
* Interest in planning play, arts, and sports activities for children of primary age – Desirable.
* Ability to understand and meet children's needs, including those with additional needs – Desirable.
