The Role Boeing’s Defence UK Digital Function is at the forefront of delivering innovative programmes within the Defence and Security sectors across the UK. We are seeking a Chief Architect – Engineering and Logistics, to join our team of skilled Architects. This role will primarily focus on leading technical governance and the delivery of a significant programme of work for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in the Engineering and Logistics domain. Primary Responsibilities As part of your role, your duties and responsibilities will include: Serving as the primary technical interface for customers, eliciting user needs related to business processes, environments, operating modes, standards, regulations, and legislation. Ensuring that design and testing regimes effectively verify and validate these user needs. Planning and overseeing activities necessary to deliver products and services, ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements are met while addressing product integrity and safety. Chairing Team Boeing Change Boards, assessing and managing changes to requirements baselines, including customer trade-offs. Reviewing and authorizing design baselines, chairing Solution Coherence Forums, and ensuring compliance with all applicable standards. Reviewing and authorizing Maritime, Land, and Air Certificates of Design in support of reviews and Entry into Service. Ensuring the integrity and safety of all Engineering and Logistics programme products and services. Providing technical leadership to collaborate with customers and partners, driving the strategy for MOD Information Systems (Logistics and Engineering Systems). Preferred Experience Proven track record of delivering business value from technology within the Defence Industry, either by aiding customers in developing and governing their enterprise architecture or by providing innovative solution architecture in response to specific business needs. Extensive experience as an Enterprise Architect or Senior Technology / Engineering Leader within the Defence sector. Proficient in designing and implementing SAP ERP and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) systems. In-depth understanding of MOD maintenance, equipment, and engineering processes. Comprehensive knowledge of MOD, DEFSTAN / JSP standards. Degree-level education preferred. Self-starter with experience working in a matrix organization, capable of discussing ideas and concepts with staff at all levels. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, partners, vendors, and project sponsors Experience in applying consultancy approaches and techniques. Proficient in business case development and investment appraisal. Familiarity with a range of delivery methods, including waterfall, agile, and DevOps. Demonstrable experience with leading Cloud Deployed COTS / MOTS Services.
