Job Description
To assist and support the Technical Officer in dealing with service enquiries, the management of projects, and the management of open space infrastructure assets and data management systems.
Requirements
To assist and support the Technical Officer with :
The development and implementation of open space development projects and initiatives.
The inspection and monitoring of open space assets and the preparation and implementation of improvement plans and projects.
Event management, including planning and monitoring.
Enquiries from members of the public, contractors, local members event organisers and open space user groups.
The maintenance of records and systems and processes relating to open space assets including children’s play, cemetery headstones, trees, ground and landscape assets, seats, bins and other open space assets.
Compliance with Health & Safety regulations, Council policies and procedures.
The Individual
Experience of identifying and implementing practical on-site solutions within open spaces
A basic understanding of environmental issues
Background in a parks environment
Background in inspection systems
Recording of information and maintaining records
SVQ level 2 in Amenity Horticulture
Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
Effective Organisational/time management skills
Able to explain issues and gain Management and Workforce support and trust
Project management skills
Computer literate - word processing, powerpoint, excel
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Effective communication skills, including handling of sensitive matters.
Ability to prioritise workload in accordance with objectives and targets.
The ability to self-motivate and demonstrate personal drive.
The ability to identify problems and work within a team to find practicable and realistic solutions
Experience of working with public/good customer care skills.
Up to date knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and ability to relate it to practical issues
Experience and understanding in managing and maintaining open space assets and in using ICT asset management systems e.g. GIS, Confirm
Current Full Driving Licence.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
