The post has been designed primarily for those that have successfully completed Foundation Year 2 (as a minimum) however applications will be considered from anyone eligible for an out of programme experience. A strong interest in medical education and experience of teaching in a health-care setting are essential. The post-holder will be encouraged to undertake a PG Certificate, diploma or MSc in Clinical Education and will be expected to attend the Faculty Development Course in Simulation. The candidate should be familiar with the NHS as you will be required to support learners and the delivery of simulation across multi-professional and multi-specialty groups in both the classroom/sim suite and clinical settings. Non-UK trained doctors with equivalent training and qualifications and who are registered with the GMC are welcomed to apply however experience of working in the UK and with NHS systems is essential. Main duties of the job Simulation Fellow The appointee will support the simulation team in delivering a broad range of high quality undergraduate and postgraduate clinical simulation teaching. This will also support the trusts aim to enhance patient safety through inter-professional simulation training with a focus on team working, communication skills and learning from critical incidents. We deliver our simulated scenarios both within our simulation suite and "in situ" in clinical areas. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative doctor with excellent communication skills to help us develop and deliver our unfolding simulation based education programme. The trust has invested in an upgraded simulation suite within our existing education centre to provide bespoke flexible facilities. We use a variety of manikins from the Laerdal family, in addition to a variety of task trainer models. Emergency Medicine The successful candidate will have successfully completed a placement at FY2 level or equivalent in Emergency Medicine. This post would be particularly suitable to someone wishing to further develop their EM knowledge and skills by taking a "professional gap year".
