Job Summary
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT) are recruiting a registered professional to join the existing Pre-registration Education Team as a Band 6 Clinical Practice Facilitator. The successful candidate will be based on the Queen Elizabeth site, with the expectation of cross site working as required.
Education
The primary focus will be to support Adult field pre-registration learners and the areas/staff that are facilitating their practice placement experience. You will work closely with the UHL counterpart and Band 7 lead, in order to:
1. Identify placement capacity
2. Map placements
3. Facilitate Practice Supervisor/Assessor training
4. Arrange and facilitate Learner Inductions, Student Forums and Student Teaching sessions
5. Share and embed NMC Standards for Education
Main duties of the job
The Pre-registration Clinical Practice Facilitator Team are responsible for maintaining a high visibility within clinical practice settings supporting learners and their practice supervisors/assessors ensuring clinical learning environments support the acquisition of required knowledge and skills partnership working with local HEIs. The successful candidate will be a highly visible role model for clinical education, an expert practitioner and change agent. They will promote quality learning environments in all areas of our services providing practical, clinical training and support to learners and their practice supervisors/assessors.

Job Description
Job responsibilities
Partnership working is important in this post and the successful candidate will work closely with local Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and Partner Organisations. You will be responsible for sustaining these relationships to support the learner journey and facilitate the required experience(s) for them to successfully complete their programme and register with the NMC. You are the bridge from practice back to theory through: supporting the facilitation of skills sessions and interviews at the HEIs; representing the Trust at meetings; advertising how colleagues can become involved with HEI activities and regularly liaising with the link lecturers.
The successful applicant will join the wider Education Team within the Trust and be supported by fellow Clinical Practice Facilitators across Midwifery and Nursing, and the Pre-registration Education Lead. As a successful candidate you will be supported through in-house training and offered professional development to enable you to facilitate change, to implement innovations and improvements for Learners, service users, their families/carers and staff.

Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Nurse / Midwife / AHP
* Practice Assessor / Mentorship course or equivalent
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
* Evidence of study at Masters Level
* Practice Teacher / teaching qualification
* Evidence of formal management / leadership training.
Experience
Essential
* Minimum three years of Band 5 in clinical services across a number of roles (broad clinical experience)
* Demonstrates experience of supporting learners in practice as a Practice Assessor or equivalent
* Experience of facilitating and delivering training sessions.
Desirable
* Experience in recruitment and selection
* Experience of challenging poor practice
* Clinical audit and service evaluation experience
* Experience of participating in additional activities relating to learners' experience
* Involvement in curriculum planning and validation with HEIs.
Knowledge
Essential
* Sound knowledge of clinical practice
* Knowledge of healthcare education
* Knowledge relating to placements: Identification, Capacity and Educational audit
* NMC Standards for Education
* Excellent theoretical knowledge with the ability to apply theory to practice.
Desirable
* Knowledge of NMC Quality assurance processes relating to education
* NMC Fitness to Practice processes
* Involvement in simulation for teaching of clinical skills.
