Rotational Pharmacist Band 7 + Emergency Duty Commitment (EDC)

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Pharmacy Team and be an integral part of the clinical pharmacy service and associated clinical areas. You will work with medical and nursing staff to optimise therapy, reduce medication related adverse events and facilitate flow with internal and external colleagues. The rotational post allows you to experience various specialist areas as you enhance your knowledge and skill set whilst crystallising thoughts on your future career path.
The successful candidate will assist the clinical leads in service improvement initiatives and will be supported with independent prescriber training if not an existing prescriber.
Main duties of the job
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides a clinical pharmacy service to allocated areas, internally and externally. Acts as a clinical role model in these areas and if required supervises rotational staff working in these areas
Supports the Clinical Pharmacy Manager in the development and implementation of strategies to improve services to patients admitted to the Trust.
Provides a high-profile role in the provision and development of pharmaceutical services including the support of; clinical, patient safety, and QIPP work streams.
Supports the departments training program, including provision of educational sessions to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, and support for pharmacists undertaking the clinical diploma.
Supports the Clinical Pharmacy Manager in the management and appraisal of other members of the pharmacy clinical team.
Assists in financial reporting and drug budget management and optimisation of medicines.
Participates in; dispensary (including acting as Responsible Pharmacist), weekend, bank holiday, late and on-call rota's.
Be a registered non-medical prescriber (or willing undertake training for this) and to make prescribing decisions, including de-prescribing, and prescribe for patients under their care.

Person Specification
* Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or equivalent experience
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Non-medical prescriber (or must be willing to undertake this when requested)
Knowledge & Experience
* Working knowledge of issues relevant to clinical pharmacy practice
* Understanding of QIPP and current requirements within the NHS
* Experience working with financial information and interpreting drug expenditure information.
