We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production site in Latton GL7 5QF near Swindon.
The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.
Follow robust planned maintenance as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. You will also provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Base Location: Latton WTW- Cirencester - GL7 5QF.
* 38 hours per week Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus standby rota.
* All PPE, tools, and provision of a van when on duty and call.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician:
* Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
* This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice and support for technical trainees if required.
* Examples of equipment include motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear.
* Participate in a standby rota following the relevant training.
What you should bring to the role:
* 18th Edition electrical City and Guilds certification is crucial.
* Ideally an apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems.
* NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering would be ideal but not essential.
* Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying, or repairing electrical plant equipment.
* Experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, and electronic control systems is essential.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces.
* A full UK driving licence is essential.
