Cancer Research UK has an ambitious Engineering Strategy and modern Tech Stack with a complex hybrid (on-premise & multi-cloud) infrastructure underpinning an extensive technical estate. As part of our Sustain strategy, we are investing significantly in our Power Apps by implementing a Power Platform Centre of Excellence which will focus on creating a self-service model and end-user training while improving the security and governance of our Power Platforms.
As a Power Platform Infrastructure Engineer, you will be part of our highly skilled, cross-disciplined, and diverse Platform Engineering team which supports the charity’s product development whilst establishing an agile, secure, and smooth-running digital workplace across 4,000+ end-users. The purpose of your role will be to manage the day-to-day operation of our Power Platform infrastructure. This will involve developing and maintaining regulatory, legal, and professional standards; monitoring services and business performance, and championing best practices and technical skills across the organisation. Furthermore, you will gain the opportunity to broaden your technical skills by supporting the Lead Engineer to deliver our ambitious project to implement our Centre of Excellence.
If you are an experienced Power Platform Engineer who has developed solutions within a Centre of Excellence with strong end-user training skills, we would love for you to join our mission.
What will I be doing?
1. Managing the day-to-day operation of Cancer Research UK’s Power Platform infrastructure to meet the needs of the business.
2. Administering, supporting, and configuring the charity’s Power Platform environment.
3. Developing and administering automated business processes using Power Platform technologies.
4. Contributing to the establishment of a Centre of Excellence by adhering to and promoting governance policies and best practices.
5. Championing and strengthening Power Platform IT best practices and knowledge across the organisation by creating and maintaining a culture of sharing and developing new technical skills. This includes:
1. Handling Power Platform & App queries from across the organisation (technical teams and end users).
2. Providing technical expertise to senior leaders to inform our strategic approach to Power Platforms.
3. Producing and maintaining high-quality documentation such as design documents in collaboration with Architecture, process guides, project documents, and articles.
4. Collaborating and building relationships with other technology teams and stakeholders using Power Platform & Apps throughout the charity.
5. Collaborating with Product Teams to resolve incidents, problems, and requests.
6. Supporting the Lead Infrastructure Engineer with Power Platform and App projects (including project planning and providing estimates for tasks).
7. Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and approaches to enhance the department and deliver value.
What skills will I need?
1. Experienced Engineer who has delivered full Power Platform Administration and governance within Centre of Excellence environments.
2. Developed Power Platform solutions with a strong knowledge of Power Apps and Power Automate (Dataverse experience is desirable but not essential).
3. Demonstrable end-user management and training skills with the ability to build relationships and deliver training across the organisation.
4. Knowledge of using Microsoft Azure (Logic Apps, Azure Function Apps, and Runbooks).
5. Document Lifecycle Management experience (including both creating and maintaining documentation).
6. An understanding of Microsoft 365 technologies (such as SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive).
