Role Overview:
As a SEMH Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome challenges related to their emotional and mental health. Your support will empower them to engage in their learning and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist students with SEMH needs in navigating their academic and social environments, helping them to build confidence and resilience. Implement tailored support strategies and individualised plans in collaboration with teaching staff to meet each student's unique needs. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to express their feelings and manage their behaviours effectively. Work closely with teachers to monitor students' progress and adapt learning activities to enhance their engagement and participation. Provide one-on-one support during lessons and assist with the development of coping strategies for managing emotions.

Requirements:
Previous experience working with students who have SEMH needs or in a similar support role is preferable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with students and colleagues. A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to promoting inclusion and supporting students' emotional development. A strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices, with successful applicants required to complete all necessary background checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
