About the Role
We are seeking a Fire Safety Advisor (0.8 FTE) to provide expert fire safety advice across the RCA's three campuses and occasional external sites. The role will be instrumental in developing and maintaining fire safety strategies and plans in line with the College's Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice and guidance to staff and students to ensure compliance with legal, moral, and financial fire safety responsibilities.
* Support the Head of Risk Resilience & Safety in developing a comprehensive Fire Safety Strategy for the College.
* Design and deliver Fire Safety and Awareness Training.
* Lead fire safety investigations and report key findings, including lessons learned from public inquiries and incidents.
* Develop site-specific fire safety management systems.
* Conduct fire audits and inspections across all RCA buildings.
* Advise on fire safety risk assessments, including DSEAR compliance.
* Manage and report on termly fire drills and evacuation plans.
* Provide fire safety advice for College events and exhibitions held at external venues.
* Liaise with the London Fire Brigade (LFB) and other external stakeholders regarding fire safety audits and inspections.
* Work closely with Estates teams on fire safety engineering, protection systems, and compliance with building regulations.
About You
We are looking for a competent and experienced fire safety professional with a strong understanding of fire risk management in a complex environment. You will be confident in engaging with a range of stakeholders and ensuring fire safety is embedded within the College's culture.
Essential skills and experience:
* Extensive knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, codes, and standards.
* Experience conducting fire risk assessments and audits in a multi-site environment.
* Proven ability to develop and implement fire safety strategies and policies.
* Strong communication and training skills, with experience delivering fire safety training.
* Experience working with external agencies such as the LFB and regulatory bodies.
