Womankind Worldwide is a global women’s rights organisation working in partnership with women’s rights movements and organisations to transform the lives of women and girls. We strengthen and support women’s movements in our focus countries in Africa and Asia, and take collective action at regional and global levels, to ensure women’s voices are heard, their rights are realised, and their lives are free from violence.
Currently, Womankind has staff based in Kenya and the UK; and this position is located in the UK. You must have the right to work in the UK to apply for this role, in line with the laws and regulations.

Womankind is looking for a motivated, detail-focused, and organised finance assistant with bookkeeping experience to join our finance team. This role would suit someone with experience in a charity finance and administration team. You will have good organisation skills, attention to detail, accuracy, an ability to assess and deliver information in a timely manner, and be able to work to deadlines.
Your main responsibility will be to maintain the organisation’s financial records using Sage, ensuring that all transactions are accurately and fully recorded.
We are currently working in a hybrid model. You would be expected to work a minimum of 2 days from our office in London.
Role Purpose
This role will report to the Finance and Resources Manager as part of the Finance and Resources team. The Finance and Office Assistant will work closely with colleagues across the organisation. You will be joining a dedicated team of people who are passionate about working with women’s movements across the world. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping Womankind run their finance function and achieve its organisational objectives. The role is essential for the smooth running of the finance function and collaborates with other teams whilst managing the office. You will be undertaking all financial transactions including payment runs, bank and income reconciliations. The position will be suitable for someone who is flexible, reliable, highly numerate, and interested in contributing to the Women’s Rights Movement.
Responsibilities
FINANCE (60%)
1. Maintenance and ownership of the Finance email inbox.
2. Responsible for processing of supplier invoices, partner transfer requests, staff expenses, and credit card statements, ensuring that transactions are accurately posted to the approved budget lines.
3. Maintaining electronic filing and storage of invoices and other relevant documents.
4. Set up monthly and biweekly payment runs and international payments.
5. Working with the Fundraising team to agree balances and post income onto Sage, including raising all sales invoices as required.
6. Banking of cheques and liaising with the Fundraising department.
7. Assisting the Finance and Resources Manager with the preparation of month-end and year-end accounts.
8. Completing bank reconciliations weekly and monthly.
9. To work with staff to ensure expenditure relating to all travel is reconciled accurately and on time.
OFFICE MANAGEMENT (40%)
1. Be the point of contact for all issues to do with the office such as post and office maintenance.
2. Ordering stationery and maintaining office supplies.
3. Ensure the office is always clean and tidy.
4. Provide general office management and admin support to the finance team.

Person Specification
Essential experience and Skills
1. Basic accounting skills, AAT Level 2 qualified or relevant experience.
2. Experience of working with accounting software, preferably Sage.
3. Experience of processing payment runs on different platforms such as Convera or Amex.
4. Excellent professional telephone manner, interpersonal skills, administration skills, and written skills with a high level of attention to detail.
5. Able to work independently without supervision and as part of a small team.
6. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email systems.
7. Ability to prioritise with excellent organisation and time management skills.
8. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues across Womankind.
9. An understanding of women's rights and commitment to promoting feminist values.
Terms and Conditions
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term (12 months)
Probation: 6 months
Holidays: 33 days per annum including statutory holidays. 3 days in addition over the Christmas and New Year period when the office is closed. You will also be entitled to the public holidays in the country in which you are based.
