Our client, a supplier in the aerospace industry, is currently seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join their team in Reading on a full-time, permanent basis. The role involves designing and implementing hardware solutions for aerospace products.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead design activities for circuits, PCBAs, and systems using Altium CAD
2. Work in a team on multiple projects simultaneously
3. Drive problem-solving activities and perform Root Cause Analysis investigations
4. Review and understand customer requirement specifications
5. Perform engineering calculations, circuit simulations, and tolerance analysis
6. Estimate, budget, and scope out new design concepts
7. Identify project risks and offer mitigation plans
8. Create, develop, store, and control PCBA designs and cable forms using Altium
9. Lead the engineering verification and validation processes, including DFMEA and DOE
10. Design and develop prototype circuits and test equipment
11. Understand international electrical and electronic specifications, including military standards
Job Requirements:
1. Experience in hardware, analogue, PCB, and electronics design
2. Understanding of PCB design standards and materials that comply with AS9100 and IPC standards
3. Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and MTBF calculations
4. Awareness of component obsolescence
5. Experience in an aerospace, defence or medical environment is beneficial
6. Leadership qualities, including leading and developing engineers
7. Knowledge in EMC design, FPGA development, and embedded development
8. Excellent communication skills
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
10. Degree in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent qualification
