Ward Clerk, Ward 2, Harplands Hospital: 12 month fixed term contract
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk on Ward 2, Harplands Hospital. A dynamic, fast paced male ward specialising in complex mental health needs. The Ward has a full MDT which strives to deliver high quality compassionate care that promotes independence and recovery for people with Mental Health needs.
The ward will offer a full induction package. Training and competencies within the administrative setting and on-going support and professional development will be tailored to meet your individual needs.
You should be a calm, organised and well-motivated person with a positive, mature and flexible approach to your work. The post involves contact with patients and their families, so good communication skills are vital.
This is a full-time role for: 37.5 hours per week
Main duties of the job
To provide comprehensive clerical service to the ward ensuring that all duties are carried out accurately and efficiently and that confidentiality is maintained.
The post holder will work as an integral part of the ward team. S/he will be responsible for monitoring of all non-clinical patient facilities service in the ward area and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment to improve the patient's experience.
The main elements of this role are conducting daily checks of the ward environment to monitor quality standards, to report deficiencies and take appropriate action. Ensure the delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance services together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient's needs.
Job responsibilities
To adopt a flexible approach and recognise changing priorities throughout the day in respect of the fluctuating nature of a busy service.
To ensure accurate and efficient allocation, recording and despatch of mail.
To receive telephone calls, refer to nursing staff or take/allocate messages as appropriate.
To receive and send documentation and e-mail as per policy.
To produce correspondence and other documentation as required.
To photocopy, collate and distribute documentation as required.
To check there is a high standard of cleanliness in all areas and assisting in maintaining and monitoring cleaning standards on the ward e.g. tidying of bed areas, conduct regular cleanliness audits and provide reports to the Ward Manager, assist in Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) inspections.

Qualifications
* Good standard of secondary education; GCSE at Grade C or above or equivalent
Experience
* Previous experience of working with the public
