Leading a county wide service to provide vaccinations and ensure a joined-up communicable disease prevention, treatment and vaccination offer in line with the National Vaccination Strategy. Vaccination activities and services will be holistic and offer vaccinations for the whole family where appropriate.
The post holder will ensure wider health advice and contact screening/interventions are carried out to ensure care and treatment is delivered to the whole county population, but in particular to those in health inequalities groups.
Main duties of the job
A senior lead role responsible and accountable for the clinical leadership of the whole vaccination process, trained and competent in all aspects of vaccination, immunisations, communicable disease response and care. Responsible for clinical oversight of the following:
1. Coordination and oversight of the full portfolio of Communicable Disease Response Team services working closely with TB services and the School-Aged Immunisation Service.
2. Provision of adequate leadership and support to all staff and citizens.
3. Clinical escalations from clinical supervisors, clinical assessors and vaccination staff.
4. Clinical review of patient safety conditions and identification of potential clinical risks and concerns.
5. Ensuring the effective delivery of care including undertaking specialist procedures, providing specialist advice, structured education and ongoing support to the site staff and the patients.
6. To act as a credible clinician in order to advise and guide staff in respect of all aspects of clinical delivery.
7. A strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff.
8. To support the developments of Clinical Governance and Service Improvement, to modernise patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated.
9. Leading by example the post holder will influence, lead, support and motivate colleagues.

Responsible for overseeing the clinical activity for the portfolio of services offered by the specialty team. Ensure a consistently resilient, high-quality process of delivering the full range of services delivered by the specialist team. Lead the clinical specialty providing leadership, development and governance in relation to the services clinical areas and supporting other clinicians regarding patient treatment and management.
1. Clinical review of patient safety conditions and identification of potential clinical risks and concerns.
2. Ensure that the services meet the needs of all eligible people, is provided to the highest level of quality, safety and efficiency, meets the minimum standards and strive for excellence, and ensures equity of access and uptake.

5. Develop and maintain relationships with all relevant stakeholders and service providers including health protection services, quality assurance teams, and local authority colleagues to ensure seamless programme delivery.
6. Monitor uptake and identify inequalities particularly in relation to social class, ethnicity, special need, and develop and implement plans to reduce inequality.
7. Ensure that expert clinical and public health advice is provided to the public through an appropriate provider.
8. Ensure that systems and protocols are in place for the identification, response and evaluation of untoward incidents and that all relevant stakeholders understand these.
9. Provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients and their carers.
10. Communicate effectively and build relationships with colleagues across the site and key external stakeholder organisations.
