This is a full-time in-office role. The office is located next to Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester.
Summary:
This marketing and communications role reports to our Senior Marketing Manager in Basel, and aligns closely with the team that manages the MDPI Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP). The IOAP is a partnership program that mainly comprises of universities, research institutions, and funders from around the world. The Marketing Specialist will drive enhancements to the communication and marketing efforts for the IOAP, with the aim of increasing visibility and facilitating the communication of signed agreements (both for new contracts and for extensions).
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy for the Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP) in line with the corporate strategies and targets, and in close alignment with the IOAP team.
2. Work with the social media team to create targeted social media ad campaigns to promote IOAP agreements and benefits directly to authors.
3. Organise press releases and announcements about new agreements or big renewals with the corporate communications team.
4. Promote institutional account renewals, articles published by IOAP authors, and benefits of the program across different channels to increase visibility.
5. Curate and manage a newsletter providing updates, conference attendance of the team, and promoting MDPI Initiatives to our partner members.
6. Aid in developing reports and materials that add value to our partners.
7. Assist with the creation of marketing materials and campaigns for the IOAP to use on visits and at conferences.
8. Organize our presence at various conferences, including booth setup, promotional material distribution, and engagement activities to maximize our impact.
9. Work with local marketing staff and managers in countries where MDPI has a local office to further increase visibility of the IOAP on a local level (and depending on the country, in local language).
Qualifications:
1. Education background: Academic degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising (or related). Work experience: 2+ years’ experience of developing and executing marketing strategies for business.
2. Skill: Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and spoken English. Ability to communicate with precision.
