Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen as a Band 5 Community Registered Nurse up to 37.5 hours within the DN Treatment Clinics/ Lower Limb Service (LLS) working across Livewell Southwest. The LLS has become a National Wound Care Strategy Programme (NWCSP) Implementation Site 1st tranche for the NWCSP Lower Limb Recommendations and has been shortlisted for a HSJ award.
You will need to demonstrate a strong interest/knowledge in Tissue Viability & lower limb management to provide specialist care in all aspects of lower limb health & skin care, working clinically under the guidance of Community Sisters & Team Managers. Effective communication & teamwork are key. Health promotion/patient education is essential, as is collaboration with other allied healthcare professionals.
The DN Treatment Clinics provide care to non-housebound patients that is unavailable at their GP surgeries, including pleural drain management, urinary catheter management, routine tracheostomy care, nephrostomy care & Topical Negative Pressure Therapy wound dressings.
Daily duties require periods of prolonged bandaging & the work is physically demanding. You will be required to work in a variety of treatment clinic settings across the Livewell footprint, including informal settings within village halls.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will demonstrate a history of interest in lower limb management and Tissue Viability, supported by the Community Team Manager and Specialist Service Lead, and will be responsible for providing specialist advice and information for the holistic assessment and management of Lower Limb disease. Responsibilities include:
1. Providing specialist advice and information for the holistic assessment and management of lower limb conditions.
2. Being highly skilled in compression bandage application techniques and Doppler assessment.
3. Making contemporaneous recommendations for the management of lower limb conditions and implementation of appropriate care plans.
4. Demonstrating the principles of wound healing and management.
5. Working independently during your working day.

* Background knowledge of Government Policies and changes in Primary Care.
