The Role:
As a Night shift engineering team leader, you will be responsible for managing the internal and external engineering resources. You will organise and prioritise work orders to ensure deliverables are completed on time while ensuring PPM plans are being followed and supporting engineering management in implementing, reviewing, and amending plans and procedures. You will be responsible for signing in contractors and supporting them where required. You will carry out root cause analysis to reduce downtime and support operations by assisting in upskilling operators and engineers. You will uphold a strong electrical background and be competent in reading and modifying electrical drawings. You will have the confidence to explore and implement on-site initiatives. You will support the engineering team to close out any corrective actions in a timely manner. You will lead by example, providing good Health and Safety guidance to both visitors and contractors while working in a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
SAFETY:
1. Comply and maintain safe production processes, including following appropriate food safety and Health and Safety procedures, while keeping data and reports up to date.
2. Support with routine safety audits and inspections.
3. Report on near misses within your own department and other areas of the business.
FOOD SAFETY & QUALITY:
1. Support audits, when requested, to help rectify any areas of concern in the business.
2. Report any food safety near misses or concerns to the relevant section manager or manufacturing manager.
OPERATIONAL:
1. Lead and support the site engineering teams to ensure that the operation and maintenance of all machinery, equipment, and engineering facilities are working effectively and to a high standard.
2. Upskill both nights engineering teams and ensure that both teams work to high and equal standards.
3. Support the planned preventative maintenance program and be familiar with plant layout when developing new plans and initiatives.
4. Ensure planned preventative maintenance plans are adhered to.
5. Reduce downtime on nights by carrying out root cause analysis and implementing change.
6. Attend call outs to departments for any reactive breakdowns and record downtime.
7. Use the on-site CMMS to capture all relevant information.
8. Analyse departmental needs and develop effective solutions to support the business.
9. Support, explore and deliver any initiatives passed down from Engineering Management.
10. Explore and implement solutions to prevent repetitive breakdowns.
11. Update records as and where required for the engineering department.
12. Achieve Key Performance Targets as agreed with Engineering Management.
13. Have good housekeeping habits, disposing of packaging, wrapping, etc.
14. Ensure that workshop facilities and canteen are maintained and cleaned frequently and to the correct standard.
15. Be proactive in looking for solutions to improve any working area – Quality and Continuous Improvement (QCIT).
16. Use Company business software where necessary – Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Maintain X, and SAP with training.
17. Maintain detailed, accurate and timely records of root causes of failures and work carried out.
18. Be able to review and make improvements to customer service.

The Ideal Candidate:
1. Will possess a minimum of 5 years as a multi-skilled engineer in the food manufacturing sector.
2. Will have previous experience in leading or management within engineering.
3. Will have previous experience in managing contractors.
4. Will be able to read CAD drawings and electrical drawings.
5. Will be IT literate.

Monday - Friday 17:30 - 02:00
