Job summary The Oncology MDT team is the backbone of Papworths Oncology Service. Responsible for the tracking of Oncology patients pathways, the team is fundamental to the coordination of the care our patients receive. The Oncology MDT & Planning Coordinator plays a fundamental role in this with the administrative oversight of the Planning and MDT meetings, processing referrals and inputting patient data on our Cancer Register. The Oncology MDT team is well thought of within Thoracic Oncology and, in December 2024, it was shortlisted and won the Trusts Team of the Year (non-clinical). If you are successful, we can guarantee this will be a rewarding role with direct impact on patient care from behind the scenes. Patients are discussed within MDT/Planning meetings to determine their care pathway; the Oncology MDT & Planning Coordinator plays a pivotal role in arranging the administration of the list, minutes, and coordinating the agreed actions. This role involves relationship building with regional hospitals because, as a Tertiary hospital, Papworth receives its referrals from many different hospitals and the Oncology MDT & Planning Coordinator works to ensure the smooth transfer of information. If you are someone who wants to make a difference in a world-leading organisation at the forefront of new medical developments, we encourage you to apply. Main duties of the job The post holder will be expected to manage the administrative processes of patient pathways within the Thoracic Oncology service. This includes preparing and supporting MDT meetings, following up on actions and escalating blockages where required. Given the sensitive patient data and quick turnaround times involved in managing these cancer pathways, the ideal candidate will be one who is conscientious, has an eye for detail, and is able to communicate to those within and outside the team to progress pathways. For more information on the specific duties and skills expected and required within the post, please read through the job description.
