Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Denton
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant for an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton. This full-time position begins in December and continues until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent role based on performance. The pay ranges from £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience.
Role Overview:
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students across a variety of subjects, helping to create a positive and effective learning environment. This role is ideal for recent graduates who are considering a career in education, providing valuable classroom experience and insight into the teaching profession.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, helping them to overcome any learning challenges and develop their skills across the curriculum.
* Assisting the class teacher in preparing lessons, resources, and classroom activities, ensuring that all students can engage fully in their learning.
* Providing academic support in both core and non-core subjects, adapting your approach based on the individual needs of students.
* Helping to manage classroom behaviour, promoting a positive and focused atmosphere for learning in line with the school’s policies.
* Monitoring and assessing student progress, reporting any concerns or areas for improvement to the teaching staff.
* Offering pastoral support to students, encouraging their social and emotional development alongside their academic progress.
* Assisting with any additional duties around the school, such as supervising break times, helping with extracurricular activities, or providing classroom cover when necessary.
* Working closely with teachers and other staff members to create tailored support plans for students with additional learning needs or behavioural challenges.
Ideal Candidate:
* A recent graduate (any discipline) who is interested in pursuing a career in education or gaining classroom experience before moving into teacher training.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of varying ages and abilities.
* A patient and empathetic approach to working with young people, with a passion for supporting their learning and development.
* Experience working with children or young people in any capacity (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing positively to the school’s wider community.
* Adaptable, with the confidence to handle different subjects and classroom situations as required.
* A proactive and organised individual, with good time-management skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
