An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 5 qualified Mental Health Nurses (RMN) to work with the Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS trust (GHC) in our award-winning Wotton Lawn Hospital.
Wotton Lawn is an 88 bed Acute Mental Health Hospital situated in the centre of the historic city of Gloucester and provides inpatient services to the population of Gloucestershire. It offers a vital service to the citizens of Gloucestershire in supporting and rehabilitating those suffering from mild to severe mental health problems. All wards are serviced by an enthusiastic, multi-professional team of people, including Doctors, Nurses, Allied Healthcare Professionals and Therapists who are supported by Ward Secretaries and Hotel Services Staff. At GHC NHS Trust we pride ourselves on providing care and support to those experiencing mental health and learning disabilities in order to support them through their recovery.
We are now seeking a highly motivated and committed band 5 Nurse to work on Greyfriars PICU. Greyfriars PICU is a 10 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care unit, providing care for people with severe and enduring mental health needs who, due to their level of risk associated with their illness, need to be nursed in an intensive environment for a short period of time. As the ideal candidate for this post, you would be an RMN qualified nurse seeking an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives, with excellent communication skills and a passion for helping those experiencing a mental health concern.
We provide a service to our patients 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, so we are looking for flexible people who would like to work on this rewarding service to cover shifts throughout the week at varying times of the day.
In return for your commitment, we will provide the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive induction and Mental Health Nurse development programme which ensures that you feel fully supported with the right tools to undertake this challenging but rewarding job. Professionals will participate in a variety of practice development initiatives. We will provide you with access to Post Registration training courses including those in teaching and assessing and a range of other training to help staff meet both their own development needs and the developing needs of this service. CPD will be provided by our academic local university partners.
We have in excess of 5000 staff working over 50 sites, providing a diverse range of services. We strive to support an organisational culture that is welcoming, builds and celebrates inclusivity and diversity, and provides a sense of belonging and trust.
About
The annual NHS Staff Survey gives our people the opportunity to tell us about their experience working at the Trust. For the 2023 survey, just over 2800 colleagues gave us their views (58.5%). It was great to see from the results that colleagues are saying that:
* 89.7% believe they are making a positive difference to patients/service users;
* 73.3% would recommend the organisation as a place to work;
* 82.4% agree that care of patients and service users is the organisation's priority;
* 76.7% would be happy with the standard of care for a friend or relative.
Our results put us as 5th nationally as a Community, Mental Health, and Learning Disabilities NHS Employer of Choice and 1st equal amongst all NHS Provider Trusts in the South West. However, we know we have more to do and will continue to drive forward our commitment to making GHC a Great Place to Work.
