OSC specialises in marine fauna and underwater-sound monitoring, acoustical and statistical modelling, Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) surveys, and imagery analyses. OSC has a track record for providing environmental monitoring (mitigation for regulatory compliance) and scientific research (field studies and experiments) for a large clientèle and range of marine industries. Role OSC is seeking an experienced Principal/Senior Marine Environmental Consultant to become a member of its team. The Consultant will have a strong track record of working in offshore sectors, specifically wind, tidal, military, and/or Oil & Gas (O&G), and delivering expertise on environmental impact assessments, licencing, and/or equipment specifications and deployment methods, with prior experience working in the field (minimum five years’ experience). Types of equipment suitable candidates will have knowledge of include: buoys, ADCPs, cameras (RGB & IR), echosounders, C-PODs/F-PODs, noise measurement, Passive Acoustic Monitoring (arrays/buoys/static recorders), acoustic releases, etc. The successful candidate will have previous experience (minimum five years) of project management, liaising with and building positive relationship with stakeholders and clients, as well as preparing and submitting tenders and proposals, marine licencing, EIAs, and client reporting. Responsibilities: Writing/Quality Controlling (OQ) of reports at a world-class English language (peer-reviewed scientific-paper level) consultancy reports; Knowledgeable mitigation advice for offshore industries; Technical, financial, and contractual management to OSC and client requirements; Client liaison and stakeholder management; Contribute to tenders and proposals and provide technical text and support to colleagues; Maintain strong client communication to sustain and develop long-term relationships; Assist in successful project delivery to meet targets and work within budget and programme scope (may require providing out-of-hours support); Develop innovative solutions to O&G and renewable sector challenges through application of novel approaches; EIA, HRA, MMMP, and client report preparation; and, Line management and mentoring of junior staff. The successful candidate will have the following: Required: Top-level, 100% fluency English written and spoken; Legally permitted to work in UK prior to employment (for exception cases, a visa application can be negotiated, as OSC is a sponsor); Demonstrated track record of winning six to seven-figure tender opportunities, and project managing all aspects of both desk-based and field studies; Degree in a relevant discipline ( e.g. environmental science/marine biology, etc. ); Experience with consultancy, e.g. in a decommissioning/offshore renewables, etc. context (five years Principal; three years Senior); Experience working with O&G, wind, military, and/or tidal sectors in pre/post-consent project delivery; Offshore fieldwork experience (e.g. MMO/PAM/Environmental Scientist); Prior project management and financial management experience; Expert use of Microsoft Office programmes ( e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); Able to work on own initiative and prioritise effectively, achieving results against tight deadlines; Genuine interest about the business, and the industry; and, Commercially aware, discreet, and able to handle sensitive information. Desirable: Knowledge and experience of environmental surveys ( e.g. water & sediment sampling, etc. ); Experience managing personnel and teams; MMO and PAM training; Offshore survival certifications (e.g. BOSIET & medical); Full, clean UK drivers’ licence.
