Job summary
The post is for a Specialist Grade Doctor at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The post is based at Royal Blackburn Hospital but activities at other trust hospitals may be required as part of the job plan.
You will be expected to, amongst other duties, undertake outpatient appointment clinics and management of patients under your care and keep up to date with correspondence and provide effective communication with GPs and other healthcare professionals.
Main duties of the job
The post will consist of 9.62 PAs to deliver independent gastroenterology services to outpatients. The 9.62 PAs will consist of:
1. 18.67 hours clinic (4.67 PA)
2. 7 hours admin (1.75 PA)
3. 5.83 hours RAS and A&G triage (1.46 PA)
4. 3 hours MDTs and clinical supervision (0.75 PA)
5. 4 hours SPA (1 PA)
The majority of the appointee's time will be spent on clinical duties.
In detail the duties will include:
* OP clinics
* Triage of primary care referrals into gastroenterology
* Responding to A&G requests within required timescales
* Preparation of such correspondence, reports and other documents as may be necessary during the performance of the above duties
* The appointee may be required to take an active role in the teaching of junior doctors
* Participation in clinical audit
* Other duties which may be allocated by Clinical Director to ensure the proper care of patients and management of the department (will be mutually agreed)
