Role Overview
We are looking for a Telephony Engineer to take full ownership of our telephony infrastructure. You will be responsible for integrating, managing, and optimizing our telephony stack, ensuring seamless connectivity between our AI system and enterprise voice sources.
Key Responsibilities
• Telephony Integration: Design, implement, and manage integrations with PBX systems, SIP trunks, VoIP providers, and cloud-based telephony platforms.
• SIP and VoIP Management: Maintain and optimize SIP signaling, media handling, and VoIP infrastructure for low-latency, high-reliability voice processing.
• Real-Time Audio Processing: Work closely with AI and engineering teams to ensure high-quality audio streams for real-time analysis and actions.
• System Architecture: Design and maintain scalable telephony solutions that support enterprise deployments.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve telephony-related issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Security & Compliance: Implement best practices for telephony security, encryption, and regulatory compliance.
Key Skills & Experience
• Strong expertise in VoIP, SIP, RTP, PBX systems (Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, OpenSIPS, Cisco, Avaya, etc.)
• Familiarity with telephony APIs (Twilio, Plivo, SignalWire, etc.)
• Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, TLS, NAT traversal, STUN, TURN)
• Programming experience in Python, Go, JavaScript, C++, or other relevant languages
• Experience with cloud telephony and containerized deployments (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker)
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Nice-to-Have
• Experience with speech-to-text (STT) and AI-driven voice processing
• Knowledge of mobile operator infrastructure
• Knowledge of real-time media processing frameworks (GStreamer, FFmpeg, etc.)
• Familiarity with telephony security, fraud detection, and call authentication (STIR/SHAKEN)
