A little more about your role…
WSP’s Glasgow PMCM Buildings team operates across the UK and Europe, focusing on private sector projects such as Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Build To Rent (BTR), and mixed-use developments.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will manage and report on the commercial performance of these projects, working closely with clients to ensure successful delivery.
Your role will involve maintaining a high level of technical, financial, and commercial control throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project Management from inception to completion: Oversee all phases of the project, from initial planning and budgeting to execution, monitoring, and final evaluation.
* Tender and appoint the project delivery team: Prepare tender documents, manage the tender process, and select contractors and consultants.
* Attend design team meetings, produce tender documentation: Participate in design meetings to ensure cost-effective solutions and prepare detailed tender documents.
* Development of cost plans: Create and refine cost plans throughout the project to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control.
* Reviewing tender returns, authorise application of payment, risk analysis, valuation certificate production: Evaluate tender submissions, approve payments, conduct risk assessments, and produce valuation certificates.
* Administer the Design & Build Contract: Manage contract administration, handle variations, and resolve disputes.
* Preparation of financial reports: Generate regular financial reports to track project expenditure and budget adherence.
* Final account information: Compile and reconcile final account information, preparing final financial reports.
* Participate in value engineering workshops and analysis of findings: Engage in workshops to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement recommendations.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
* Proven track record in the successful delivery of public sector projects working with Local and Central Government agencies, in particular, Education delivery would be desirable.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations applicable to infrastructure projects, in particular CDM regulations.
* Experience of projects from Feasibility Study stage through to Operation and in particular the stage deliverables at each point.
* Experience in procurement of contractors, development of contractual documents and achieving Contract Close on projects.
* Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team on behalf of a client, liaising with a diverse range of specialism.
* Experience of development and management of programmes and the identification of issues and development of solutions to resolve time challenges.
* Experience in the identification and management of risk and strategies to avoid or mitigate their outcomes.
* Experience in the understanding of cost management of a project, working with QS colleagues to maintain the best value to the client whilst maintaining quality.
* Chartership to MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent is essential.
