Overview
Reporting to the People Partner, the overall purpose of the role is to provide the site leadership team with support and guidance in relation to all HR related topics. The ideal candidate will provide a professional service covering all aspects of employee relations and industrial relations, while continuing to support our Wincanton wellbeing and engagement agenda and our Million Hours mission. The role will encompass continuous improvement, to ensure that all contract objectives are achieved and maintained through the performance of people.
This is a Monday to Friday role and it is site based
Candidates must have experience of working with unions, including pay negotiations
How will you contribute?
1. Responsible for delivering a high-quality professional HR service to all on site
2. Have a passion for coaching and supporting Managers in delivering the policies and procedures in line with site agreements and current legislation
3. Support Trade Union engagement and building effective working relationships with key stakeholders
4. Team Management (1 direct report)
5. Key customer engagement on people agenda
6. Advise, support and guide Managers including investigations, conduct related disciplinary, appeals and all family friendly policies
7. Oversee the management of high level absence cases
8. Deliver excellence by overseeing and supporting the recruitment process by assisting and coaching Managers
9. Produce / assist in producing HR Statistics and KPIs on a weekly / monthly basis
10. Produce and maintain accurate reports and records for all HR issues
11. Support annual pay award process and any payroll escalated issues
12. Contribute towards the improvement of processes and methods of operating practices within the site to benefit our customer
13. Working in collaboration with the site Engagement and Wellbeing Champions to promote Employee Engagement, Wellbeing initiatives and Social Value projects and our Wincanton Million Hours mission
What will you bring?
14. Proven experience of operating within a fully unionised environment
15. Operational HR awareness/experience
16. Management of absence cases
17. Previous experience in a warehouse/distribution environment an advantage
18. CIPD qualified (ideally level 5) or working towards a CIPD qualification.
19. Proficient in MS office packages
20. Applicants must have the ability to problem solve and use their own initiative
21. Applicants must have the ability to maintain high standards whilst working under pressure and to deadlines
22. Good understanding of current employment legislation
23. Applicants must be an effective communicator and be able to develop good working relationships at all levels
24. Confidentiality and discretion are essential
