Job Summary
Band 7 Family Lead Early Intervention Psychosis service in Birmingham. The role is to lead on Family Interventions. The position holds an important role in actively shaping and supporting the work within the service, undertaking and delivering family interventions to our service users and carers.
There will be an ongoing process of evaluating family interventions, carer support in the service, and liaising with the team and managers around the service development in relation to supporting family interventions using the BFT (Behavioural Family Therapy) evidence-based approach.
This role will be dual with some reduced caseload in care coordinating first episodes of psychosis. The core features of the EIP model are based on the NICE guidance for young people and adults for psychosis and ensuring we are meeting the national NCAP (National Clinical Audit of Psychosis) standard in delivering family interventions.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will fulfil a dual role of care coordinating a caseload of young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis (8 cases) within a designated team, combined with providing leadership over the delivery of family interventions across the wider Birmingham EIP service.
The care coordinating role will focus on the delivery of key interventions as per the NICE standards of care for EIP. The post holder will demonstrate excellent engagement skills and build relationships with young people that form the basis of offering a high standard of evidence-based clinical care.
Working closely with the service's Head of Nursing and Clinical Pathway Lead, they will support the delivery of interventions such as behavioural family therapy in the 4 EIP teams through the offer of training, individual and group supervision, and advice and guidance to the MDTs. Where required, they will also jointly deliver interventions with complex cases to support care coordinators and the clinical team. The post holder will also support the service's Head of Nursing in improving the offer of structured, evidence-based carer support with consideration of how we deliver carer groups both face to face and virtually.
