Children’s Services at SGH are undergoing change and development. We are seeking dynamic, forward-thinking Specialty Doctors to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to influence the future of paediatric and neonatal care and deliver high-quality outcomes for children. The position is on a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2025.
Our facilities have benefited from capital investment, offering modern, clean, and expert environments for staff and patients. Children’s Services are based in a new, modern building with bespoke ward facilities and a dedicated Children’s Out-Patient department.
Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years (FTE or equivalent) postgraduate training in the UK or an equivalent qualification, including at least one year in Paediatrics. Full GMC registration and a license to practice are required at the time of application.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure the provision of first-class clinical service
* Provide effective leadership to junior doctors and medical students
* Conduct work in accordance with the Trust’s procedures and policies
* Lead clinical practice within contractual and service plan parameters
* Support junior trainees and nurse practitioners in patient assessment and management across various paediatric settings
* Participate in ward rounds, clinics, audits, and research activities
* Develop or maintain a special interest with support from consultants
* Contribute to postgraduate training and departmental activities
* Assist in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances as needed

The role involves general paediatric and neonatal care, working within a friendly, well-staffed, and resource-rich unit. The post is part of a full shift rota, with recognition of previous service for salary purposes. Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC registration at appointment
* Evidence of ST3 (or equivalent) competencies in Paediatrics
* Eligibility to work in the UK
* Proficiency in written and spoken English
* Up-to-date APLS/EPLS and NLS certifications
* Minimum 4 years (FTE) postgraduate training in the UK or equivalent, including at least 2 years in relevant specialty

* MRCPCH

* Experience and interest in teaching and participation in audit activities are desirable.
