Description An experienced Assistant General Manager is required to lead and grow Wincanton’s business on one of its key accounts. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a key strategic customer, and an established and talented contract team. Reporting to the General Manger, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a safe, efficient and successful operation, whilst managing significant change within the business, with key stakeholders, and our on-site customers, leading and developing the Wincanton contract team, and growth into new areas of the customer’s business whilst driving excellence through a Lean CI model. This role requires a natural leader, someone who has an ability to engage with all stakeholders and an ability to successfully implement change. To develop the Key Account Plan in alignment with Wincanton’s and the customers growth agenda to ensure a joint delivery of key milestones within the plan to achieve customer satisfaction, reduce duplication which will increase our ability and agility to service our customer. Identify new ways to grow the customers supply chain to prevent status quo. Establish engagement plans with key customer stakeholders to enhance relationships at all levels of the business. Provide leadership to the contract team in formulating and delivering the Operational Master Plan. Lead the Continuous Improvement programme on site to ensure that a CI approach is undertaken in relation to processes, systems, equipment, and facilities. Ultimate responsibility for the professional and personal development of colleagues working on the contract, and ownership of recruitment and people retention. Establish the existing site as a leader in terms of innovation and new technologies. Identify and manage the implementation of investment and site improvement projects. Competencies Experience in leading all aspects of a multi-site, customer led operations and proven track record in delivering innovative performance improvements and operational excellence. Knowledge of the complete life cycle of a contract. Strong experience of manufacturing logistics / supply chain with varying levels of complexity. Knowledge of support services / contracts business model (including 3PL) highly desirable. Experience of new business tenders and managing startups and business transfers is ideal. Excellent commercial acumen - understands dynamics of ‘open/ closed book’ contracts & develops a profit centre approach & culture amongst the Account team that is focused on bottom line performance. Agile approach to strategy and planning with a proven experience of adapting operational plans to changing customer requirements whilst also achieving a commercial benefit. Has worked within Continuous Improvement programmes and can demonstrate an appreciation of key methodologies and approaches. Understands how to use IT / technology to drive performance. High level of self-awareness (including via psychometric profiling) and takes accountability for own development. Seeks and provides feedback on a regular basis. Highly numerate and excellent written skills. Strong planning and analytical skills.
