We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our small friendly team in Colchester.
To provide non-medical (independent) prescribing service for substance misusing clients; to be responsible for substitute prescribing for complex clients, and to provide advice and guidance on prescribing issues to a team of practitioners.
To provide controlled drug and medical withdrawal from alcohol prescribing as an independent prescriber and a supplementary prescriber (in accordance with agreed clinical management plans) to substance misusing clients, within their sphere of competence.
To carry out comprehensive assessments of clients presenting to the service in need of substitute prescribing jointly with non-statutory partners.
To accurately assess the multiple needs of this complex client group, including identifying and exercising judgments relating to homelessness, drug treatment, psychological counselling interventions, treatment plans, criminal justice system, Child protection, other agencies etc.
• To work collaboratively with clients, service colleagues and other agencies to promote recovery from drugs/alcohol misuse in close collaboration with medical colleagues.
• To provide advice and decisions to other service members and partner agencies in relation to crisis situations, conditions and treatment plans, based on medical and drug history and knowledge of certain conditions.
• To promote the health needs of clients with complex issues, and within their sphere of competence and provide interventions for these needs.
• To carry out clinical review of clients, and in collaboration with recovery worker and client to update care and treatment plans.
• To promote clinical excellence by complying with nationally agreed, Trust and statutory policies and clinical guidance, while maintaining own clinical competencies in this role.
• To undertake non-medical prescribing duties following appropriate accredited training (this being entered on the NMC register) within agreed protocols, working closely with the medical practitioner.
• To work within Specialist Prescribing Substance Misuse services to embed INMP role into hub/site practice and the wider service
