The role requires a skilled and experienced gardener to manage the ongoing maintenance of the grounds and gardens for a wonderful outdoor space. This full-time, permanent position allows the successful candidate to leave a professional and personal imprint on the gardens.
Set amidst the idyllic English countryside, the beautifully maintained gardens span approximately three acres, offering a harmonious blend of charm and elegance. Herbaceous borders weave through the landscape, complemented by enchanting floral archways. A Victorian greenhouse that grows a variety of produce and fruit cages enhance the garden’s character, while a diverse collection of mature and specimen trees adds depth and stature. The scene is further enriched by an array of pots and planters, all thoughtfully arranged, alongside expansive formal lawns that provide a sense of openness and tranquillity.
Our client seeks an experienced sole gardener to help maintain the gardens on a year-round basis following the annual calendar. Applicants will possess extensive experience working in a similar role within a large country garden. Excellent plant knowledge and technical skills are essential for this position, including experience in compost management, propagation, pruning, weeding, and rejuvenating beds. A self-motivated, organised individual with a strong work ethic, ability to work on their own initiative, and willingness to work to consistently high standards are essential qualities for this role. Candidates will be flexible and willing to extend their duties where needed. This position requires a fit and strong individual.
General maintenance duties will include but are not limited to pruning, propagating, weeding, edging, and compost management. The house is equipped with garden machinery, which the gardener should be capable of maintaining between services. The principal has a friendly dog.
This exciting vacancy would be great for a couple looking to work in a quiet and beautiful part of the country. The client is offering the successful candidate a 2-bedroom cottage with all bills included, excluding Wi-Fi internet and personal mobile. The property is open to couples; however, the accommodation is not suitable for dependents or pets. Please note that this position is for one person only, and there is no formal employment opportunity available for the second individual.
