On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Marine Fitter - Inside IR35 for a 6 Month contract based in Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 2AQ.

As a Marine Fitter, your main responsibilities will be to:
* Proactively manage, inspect, identify and rectify any mechanical defects within the JSASTC sail training fleet and associated equipment. This will involve managing planned and reactive works and ensuring that parts are demanded for immediate, routine and emergent works.
* Lead on the delivery of mechanical surety, safety and assurance across the fleet of JSASTC sail training craft and associated systems and equipment.
* Operate as part of the maintenance and engineering team who provide technical maintenance and repair of the MOD training yachts.
* Overhaul and maintenance of small marine diesel engines of all recognised brands up to 300 HP.
* Repair all auxiliary yacht systems including water systems and steering.
* Fix and maintain marine A.C. generator installations up to 15Kw output.
* Repair and maintenance of outboard engines up to 75 HP.
* Manage and assure the quality of engineering work.
You'll have:
* Relevant qualifications & experience in working in the Maritime environment with mechanical systems on commercial sailing yachts or motorboats.**
* Ability to work with power tools & workshop static machinery.
* Knowledge & good practice of health & safety.
* Clear understanding of working with difference small marine diesel engines.
* Expertise in working with outboard engines.
**Applications without formal qualifications but knowledge and experience of working with sailing yachts will be considered. Further training will be provided.
