As a Communications Operator and Dispatcher, you’ll be the first point of contact to our on-site emergency services and members of the public that require our assistance. Answering emergency and non-emergency calls from a variety of people. You will take initial reports, transfer information, and dispatch the required resources. However, you won’t just be a phone operator in a call centre, you’ll be gathering the relevant information and intelligence which enables our emergency services to fulfil their roles. You will play an integral part of maintaining the security and safety of the nuclear site by helping to manage critical incidents and liaise with members of the public in and around the local area. You’ll ensure all requests receive an appropriate response or resolution and you’ll manage critical incidents and pre-planned events appropriately. You’ll be responsible for recording important information. It is vital that you follow organisational procedures and keep all information, well managed, secure, and comprehensive. You’ve taken calls, but nothing this critical. It’s a demanding role that requires you to listen, ask appropriate questions and consider options for actions while having to respond quickly, and sensitively. But you won’t do it alone, you’ll join colleagues who have an extensive knowledge of police regulations and the highest level of integrity. They’ll train you and help you meet the high standards that are required for this role. But to truly excel, you’ll bring fantastic listening and communication skills along with an ability to demonstrate resilience working under pressure. The post holder will be required to work regular 12 hour shifts on a 24/7 shift pattern including nights and weekends. You will also be required to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) level clearance, and commencement of this role will be subject to a medical assessment.
