WHAT TO EXPECT
The role will be within the Global Manufacturing Engineering team with a focus on Trim & Final operations, covering how JLR can influence the product design with a strong set of manufacturing requirements, enforcing design for manufacture and operational cost reduction at the very beginning of product creation.
You will be working in an off-cycle environment, away from product delivery, with a focus on what the manufacturing process standards need to be in order to achieve quality, cost, safety, and modern luxury customer experience goals.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Reviewing & updating content of the GME (Global Manufacturing Engineering) Standards Hub and all related documents
Develop and sustain Trim & Final manufacturing process standards for all commodities and technologies.
Further develop internal benchmarking, reviewing best practice across our model range and also taking any lessons learnt from previous launches to ensure the manufacturing standard truly delivers best in class for all new car lines.
Work alongside the facilities and cost per unit teams as well as product engineering to ensure the process standard and equipment standards deliver the best operational cost and the requirements from the product design are tangible and realistic.
Visit the manufacturing sites and review the current car processes to align with future commodity strategy development, take away any learning from the production team and the Current Manufacturing Engineering team.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
To be considered for this role, you will need to have considerable experience within a manufacturing environment and/or with assembly operations. Therefore, experience within the automotive industry is preferred, and ideally within the Trim & Final sector.
You will also need to have relevant previous experience working with manufacturing/engineering process, tools, and techniques, as well as a thorough understanding of lean manufacturing and design for assembly.
Also desired is the ability to manage 3d models tools (CAD), and Mechanical Engineering principles, as well as a good understanding of engineering processes, BMV, HPC and CapEX reporting.
