Electrical Surveyor - High Heat Retention Storage Heaters
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Surveyor to join our team at Gasway Offices. This full-time position, reporting to the Electrical Contracts Manager, involves conducting site surveys in domestic properties to design and calculate heat loss for high heat retention storage heater installations. The role includes ensuring that designs meet both technical and regulatory requirements and collaborating with the Installations Teams to ensure successful delivery.
The primary focus of the role is to complete surveys, including heat loss calculations for high heat retention storage heaters. This involves providing accurate and detailed reports that inform system designs and offering technical support and guidance to the Installations team to ensure smooth communication and project flow. The Electrical Surveyor will respond to customer queries, providing clear and helpful information about high heat retention storage heaters during site surveys. Additionally, the role involves liaising with clients, providing clear and concise explanations of survey findings, and ensuring all work meets relevant industry standards, including health and safety regulations.
The Electrical Surveyor will assist in the installation and commissioning of systems as required, managing documentation and ensuring compliance with certifications. Staying current on industry trends and advancements is essential to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of the industry. The role also requires taking personal responsibility for Health, Safety, and Welfare, both for oneself and for colleagues and customers in the workplace.
Secondary responsibilities include conducting site surveys to assess the feasibility of Solar PV installations. This includes collecting and analyzing data related to energy usage, roof space, shading, site logistics, and access. The Electrical Surveyor will design solar PV systems, providing accurate and detailed reports that inform system designs and offering technical support and guidance to the Installations team.
Special circumstances for this role include the need for flexibility regarding working hours, including the possibility of working some evenings and weekends to support a 24/7/365 operational business.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the installation and design of electric heating, as well as experience as a Solar Surveyor or in a similar role in solar PV installations, working in a customer-facing environment with direct contact with customers. A strong understanding of solar PV systems, including design and installation processes, is essential. Experience with both domestic and commercial solar installations, competence in producing site reports, and commissioning systems are also required. The candidate should have a strong understanding of local building codes and regulations.
Essential qualifications include NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), the 18th Edition of BS7671, and ECS Health & Safety qualification. Desirable qualifications include an understanding of electrical principles and construction codes, technical solar and battery storage knowledge, inspection and testing qualification (2391 or 2394/2395), and a JIB Gold Card. A full driving license is required.
The successful candidate will be highly organized with strong communication and interpersonal skills. They should be able to work independently and as part of a team, possess excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, and have a high level of product knowledge. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow detailed instructions is also essential.
