We're supporting our client, a leading global manufacturer based in Telford, who are looking for a Project Manager to join their growing team. The successful Project Manager will have experience in a project management role, with excellent project management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
Position Overview:
As a Project Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of specific automation/tooling projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. The role will play a critical role in coordinating cross-functional teams, managing customer relationships, and driving continuous improvement in our project management processes. The scope of the role will be automotive automation/tooling programs, where it will be necessary to use strong technical and people skills to manage customer programmes from design/concept stage through installation and commissioning of automated assembly equipment and/or tooling.
Responsibilities for Project Manager:
1. Lead launch and buy off activity, organizing projects from concept to production, including customer liaison, design, budgeting and product review.
2. Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders.
3. Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets, tracking progress and making adjustments as needed.
4. Present oneself in a professional business manner at all times, developing customer relationships that provide satisfaction, quality, and company profitability.
5. Act as the main point of contact for customers, providing regular project updates, managing expectations, and addressing any concerns.
6. Estimate and monitor costs and hours to complete specific projects.
7. Research new or different equipment and technologies for future competitiveness.
8. Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare progress reports for key stakeholders.
9. Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective contingency plans when necessary.
10. Ensure ISO Standard Operating Procedures are followed by Team Members.
11. Ensure that project teams are following the safety rules, standards and procedures at all times.
12. Lead the team and conduct business in accordance with the values of the company and an awareness of the employee's charter and operational principles.
About You:
1. Flexibility to travel within Europe and beyond.
2. Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships.
3. Effective communicator both written and verbal.
4. Eligibility to work in the UK.
5. Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma or Recognized Certificate of Qualification in a Mechanical trade AND/OR minimum 10 years' experience in automotive assembly/tooling manufacturing environment at commensurate level.
6. Demonstrable track record in Project Management role with excellent project management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
7. Commercial awareness and customer facing experience.
8. Knowledge of GD&T/CMM inspection reports.
9. Strong technical background, with a solid understanding of automated equipment design and integration.
10. Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Auto CAD and Visual Manufacturing System.
11. Proficiency in project management tools and software.
12. Previous budget responsibility.
13. Prince 2 or other project management qualification is desirable.
