A Snapshot of Your Day
Being a part of our SGT Shipping department, you will become an important player in a strong and independent team. We support customers in over 90 countries each day, so flexibility, proactiveness and communication are all keywords in our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring both imports / exports are processed in line with customs procedures and regulations. This includes, parts, tooling, engines, and gas turbine packages. You will help facilitate getting customer shipments ready for despatch, including the preparation of materials stored at our third-party packaging provider.
We value good and open communication, and this role requires strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure customer projects are delivered on time. This role requires great teamwork and a proactiveness to support the rest of your colleagues during seasonal or business demands.
How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Check invoicing accuracy and rectify any errors
2. Ensure manifest is correct for daily shipments and paperwork fully prepared to support on time freight forwarder collections.
3. Create documentation for customs for all export shipments from the plant using SAP system
4. Book collections using approved freight forwarders
5. Tracking proof of deliveries when requested
6. Investigating and correcting shipping errors
7. Ensure correct processes are followed within the department and look at ways to optimize our processes
8. Liaise with EC for exporting shipments
9. Liaise with Customs team for any customs related issues on imports/exports
10. Production and validation of certificates of origin
11. Process relevant Dangerous Goods shipments for road/sea/air
12. Process and monitor any manual shipment requests where required
13. Able to engage and operate in freight forwarder booking tools
14. Perform all other reasonably duties assigned by supervisor or manager
What You Bring
15. Significant experience in a customer facing role within a transport or shipping background
16. Proficient with MS Office
17. Proficient with ERP systems (preferably SAP)
18. Understanding of the export documentation requirement for shipments to countries outside the UK
19. Working knowledge of Incoterms. (DAP, FCA etc)
20. Working knowledge of out of gauge shipments (we ship items weighing 70+ tonnes)
21. Experience with Dangerous Goods
