We have a great opportunity for a Support Worker to join us and support our client who is 20 years old living in Bridgewater, Somerset area. About Our Client: Our Client is 20 years old who undertakes a range of undertake a range of activities at home and in the community. Adores all things sports related and loves music and computer games. Our client would love the support worker to enjoy these things too. Our client has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair full time and would need help with all aspects of personal care and daily living activities. Client would need assistance to eat and drink as my upper limb function is limited. Our client also have a PEG for top up feeding. Loves to chat and interact but due to cerebral palsy effects the speech patterns so you sometimes have to help to be understood, Our client requires to have a communication aid which use for some activities but mostly prefer to use verbal speech. Our client also has a fully adapted and equipped property and wheelchair accessible vehicle. You need to have worked with people like our client before and have a full driving licence. You would be required to help our client access desired activities at home and in the community. Some of the desired activities include partaking in local groups, watching sports, comedy or music events. Our client would need support to do therapy and social and leisure activities. Our client has a team of one support worker and one team leader who you will work alongside. Currently looking to increase care team so our client can have support 24 hours per day 7 days a week. What you'll be working: Support Worker (Full time, part time, Bank, job share) £16.00 per hour weekdays to £17.50 per hour weekends £11.44 per hour sleeping night shift Typical shifts include: 9am to 11pm, 9 hours sleep in rate, 8am to 6pm 8pm, to 11pm, 9 hours sleep in rate, 8am to 6pm 9am to 8pm 9am to 6pm Additional hours may be available to cover holidays/sickness and activities where double ups are required. What you'll be doing Some of the main roles and responsibilities: To ensure consistency of approach with the client in accordance with advised approaches to care and any emerging therapy aims. To liaise with and support the family as required. To follow the Service User Plan as documented for the client. To participate in manual handling procedures as specified for the client. To ensure opportunity is given to participate in activities as identified by client and his parents while achieving a balance between work, rest and play for the client. To deliver programmes of educational, social and therapeutic development as directed by the relevant professionals and the client's parents. To provide the opportunity for the client to follow therapeutic guidelines. To be trained in all relevant skills to undertake role, as identified by the case manager in liaison with other professionals involved in delivery of support for client and his parents. What you'll have: At the minimum, applicants will be expected to have some experience of caring for people with physical or learning disabilities. Applicants with an NVQ (or equivalent) in care are desirable Applicants must have a full driving licence Must be able to commute to Bridgewater, Somerset • This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS, which the employer will obtain and fund on your behalf.
