The College
The London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism is well-established and at the forefront of education within the field. The college is internationally respected as a provider of industry-relevant courses, and we regularly win accolades from major industry bodies. We work closely with local and regional employers through curriculum engagement and partnerships.
The Role
The college is looking for General Kitchen Assistants to keep the kitchen and all the equipment clean. As well as working closely with Lecturers and chefs during practical sessions by sourcing specialist equipment, bringing ingredients from the store, setting up the classroom, etc.
* Wash and clean a range of small and large equipment in training and production kitchens.
* Wash up pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery by dishwasher or by hand and store in a hygienic manner.
* Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchens and associated areas by regularly cleaning work surfaces, tables, walls, and floors.
* Ensure that all cleaning chemicals are used and stored correctly.
* Support the lecturer and students during training classes by sourcing equipment and ingredients.
* Assist, when necessary, with the preparation and service of refreshments.
* Assist with the setting up of the restaurant for training classes or commercial functions.
* Remove all waste from kitchens and production areas.
* Scrub and wash floors, walls, and food preparation areas.
* Clean refrigerators and storage areas to a high hygiene standard. Check and record refrigeration temperatures.
* Support a range of enterprise activities, functions, and events.
* Maintain Food Safety systems and basic kitchen systems.
* Check ingredient quantities from stores and distribute to students in training sessions.
* Work in a team to a range of working patterns to support the school and curriculum in a number of operational areas.
* Assist the stores supervisor as and when required.
In addition to the above areas of responsibility, the position may be required to undertake any other reasonable duties relating to the broad scope of the position.
Successful candidates will be trained to gain a level 2 Food Hygiene certificate; however, you must have some proven experience in a similar level role. The candidate will also need to be dynamic and personable, display excellent communication skills, be professional, well-presented, and able to communicate clearly with people at all levels.
You must be able to follow all training procedures and policies to meet the standards of cleanliness and hygiene required in line with Health & Safety and food hygiene regulations.
Commitment to flexible working times, specifically early mornings, evenings, and weekends as and when required.
