Job overview
The degree level apprenticeship qualifies you as an Operating Department Practitioner: a registered healthcare professional specialising in care for patients during the whole perioperative journey.
Operating Department Practitioners work alongside other professionals (such as Doctors and nurses) and take a lead role in ensuring a patient is safe during their journey through the operating theatre.
By completing the Level 6 apprenticeship you will gain a BSc (Hons) in Operating Department Practice which has been approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and you will be eligible to apply for HCPC registration.
This role is Band 5 Annex 21: Year 1 - 65%, Year 2 - 70%, Year 3 - 75%.
Certificate Check: 11th to 17th December midnight (you will be required to send photos of your original certificates between these dates for checking for eligibility).
Interview Date: 14th January 2025
Please note: Some of your Annual leave may be fixed around your plan of study and remaining annual leave to be taken as per local procedure.

Along with Sheffield University you will cover the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to look after patients during the three phases of the operating theatre: anaesthesia, surgery and post anaesthesia, and you will develop:

Qualifications/Training
* GCSE's A-C or equivalent in English Language
* GCSE's A-C or equivalent in Maths
* Level 3 Qualification or equivalent as a minimum in a health-related subject.
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous experience in acute hospital environment.
* Up to date knowledge of professional issues.
* Demonstrate evidence of research-based practice.
* Previous experience during training in theatres.
Personal Attributes & Skills
* Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills with multi-disciplinary team/client/relatives.
* Demonstrate caring manner with an understanding of Equality and Diversity in the workplace.
