The Systems Engineering team at Cheadle Heath carries out Systems Engineering activities covering the full lifecycle for Submarine, Surface Ships, and Airborne Sonar and Command and Control systems. A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Systems Engineer, primarily to work within the Submarine domain, on both domestic and export programmes, particularly in the area of requirements management.
Principal Relationships
Relationships will be required to be built and maintained with the following principals:
• The system engineer will be required to work closely with:
• The relevant Project Manager(s)
• The relevant Product/Project Design Authorities
• The System Engineering Manager and other System Engineers in the team and/or programme
• The customer/end-user community
• The individual discipline design teams – acoustics, hardware, software, mechanical, etc.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
The role may include, but not be limited to the following activities:
• System Requirements Management.
• DOORS Management.
• Participation in the preparation and presentation of system level design reviews.
• IVVQ planning and execution.
• Specification production.
• Requirements sell-off and contract acceptance with customer.
• Customer and end-user liaison.
• Alignment of Product vs Project.
Experience and Skills
Skills - Essential
• Demonstrable relevant systems requirements management experience in the Defence industry.
• DOORS practitioner.
Skills - Desirable
• Familiarity with SCRUM methodology.
Experience - Essential
• Demonstrable relevant systems engineering design & development experience in the Defence or similar industry.
Experience - Desirable
• Knowledge of maritime domain operations and/or products.
• Knowledge of acoustic design and/or performance in underwater environment.
Education and Qualifications
Education - Essential
• Bachelors Degree level, or equivalent, in engineering or relevant scientific discipline.
Education - Desirable
• Higher level Degree/Doctorate, or equivalent.
