The post holder will deliver high standards of care to patients and their families, ensuring excellent patient experience. In particular, take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients. The post holder will participate in the daily management of the ward when required, ensuring smooth and efficient running in the absence of the Junior Sister/Sister. They will take responsibility for their own self-development helping to provide a suitable learning environment and high standards of clinical practice. To recognise own limitations and seek advice and support from senior staff.
Medical Day Case Unit is an infusion suite. We provide a range of treatments including drug therapy, blood transfusion and medical tests. We treat patients from all medical groups including, but not limited to, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Renal, Neurology, Diabetes and Endocrinology. We also treat patients from the surgical division and the Haematology and Oncology division. There is a requirement to be competent in venepuncture and cannulation and to be competent to administer intravenous medication. There is also a requirement to undertake 2 Blood Transfusion Training as well as training to deliver some chemotherapy medications and Vaccinations.
